Last week, Ms. Lim from Singapore and her family reached out to us, saying they planned to visit Guizhou for relief from the heat at the end of 7. "It's constantly 35°C in Singapore—we can't take it anymore." Her top concerns: Which parts of Guizhou are genuinely cool? How cool is it really? And how should we plan for elderly family members and young children?

Meitu Travel has been operating ground services in Guizhou for 10 years. Every summer, we host hundreds of groups seeking relief from the heat. We know exactly which places are truly cool and which are merely "less hot." Today, we're sharing a few spots with the most comfortable temperatures.

Liupanshui Wumeng Grassland – Bring a Jacket in Summer

In Liupanshui, the average summer temperature ranges from 19 to 22°C. Wumeng Grassland sits at an elevation of 2500 meters. Daytime highs in 7 reach 25°C, dropping below 15°C at night. During our group tours, guests always pull out their long-sleeve jackets.

The grasslands are vast and accessible by car. Along the way, wind turbines spin through a sea of clouds—perfect for photos. As the sun sets in the evening, the breeze turns chilly; you'll want to layer up.

Avoid These PitfallsThe grasslands have strong UV radiation. Cool weather doesn't mean you won't get sunburned—bring sunscreen and a hat. It's windy, so hold your phone and camera steady. Weekends are crowded; we recommend visiting on Wednesday or Thursday for a more private experience.

High-speed train from Guiyang to Liupanshui takes 2 hours, then 1 more hours on the bus to reach the grassland. Entrance fee: 50 CNY; homestay accommodation costs 200–400 CNY per night.

Libo Xiaoqikong – A fully shaded journey through the canyon

Hidden within a canyon and a primeval forest, Xiaoqikong's water temperature stays between 16°C and 18°C in 7. Standing by Wolongtan, you can feel the chill rising from your feet. Dense trees on both sides block out the sunlight, keeping you in the shade the entire way—no direct sun exposure.

Avoid These PitfallsXiaoqikong peak season admission is 120 yuan plus shuttle bus fare of 40 yuan. Advance booking on the official platform is required; tickets are not sold at the gate. During summer vacation, slots fill up on the day of visit—book at least 3 days in advance.

We'll have guests enter the scenic area at 7:30 AM, heading back from Wolongtan to avoid the crowds. At the 68-tier waterfall section, find a rock to sit on, listen to the water, and feel the breeze—you won't want to leave for half an hour. In Libo County, Zou Pang Ge Sour Soup Fish uses local rice paddy fish, with an average price of 60 RMB per person.

Mount Fanjing – 22° at the summit, with winds so strong you have to grip the railings.

In summer, the summit of Fanjing Mountain is 8 to 10 degrees cooler than the base. In 7, temperatures at the foot of the mountain range from 33 to 35 degrees, while the summit stays between 22 and 24 degrees with strong winds. Climbing up to the Red Cloud Golden Peak offers a breathtaking view of the sea of clouds rolling beneath your feet.

MeituShuo ReminderPeak season tickets: 80 yuan; round-trip cable car: 160 yuan. Book at least 5 days in advance on the official platform. Daily visitor limit during summer vacation is 8000; no appointment, no entry.

Strong winds at the summit. Hold your phone tight and wear your hat when taking photos at Hongyun Golden Peak.

Suggest taking the Jiangkou cable car up and hiking down from Yinjiang. Those with good stamina can complete the hike in one day; others may split it over two days, staying overnight at Mushroom Rock Campsite to watch the sunrise in the morning.

Jiabang Terraces – Miao Village has no air conditioning; bring a blanket for the night.

The Jia Bang Rice Terraces are located in Congjiang County, at an elevation of 800 to 1200 meters. Daytime highs reach 28°C with significant evaporation, creating a humid feel of around 25°C. At dawn, the terraced fields reflect the morning glow as mist rises from the valley floor, making the village appear to float on clouds.

No entrance fee. The Miao wooden house at 150 includes breakfast. Stroll through Jiache Village and Dangniu Village during the day, and watch the sunset by the terraced fields in the evening. This area is home to both Miao and Dong communities; elders still practice indigo dyeing and brew rice wine at home—just daily life, not a performance.

From Congjiang to Jiabang, it's a 2.5-hour mountain drive with many sharp turns and narrow roads. We recommend hiring a local driver.

MeituShuo ReminderWatch the sunrise over the morning terraces. Wake up at 5 AM; there are no streetlights in the Miao village, so bring a flashlight.

How do I choose between the four options?

Love photography? Choose Liupanshui Wumeng Grassland for 25° landscapes with blue skies and sea of clouds. Traveling with seniors or kids without getting too tired? Visit Libo Xiaoqikong, featuring flat boardwalks and shaded spots by the water. Ready for an outdoor challenge? Fanjing Mountain is perfect. Want a full experience on your first trip? Add Bang Terraced Fields and villages in one stop.

Four stops in a loop take approximately 7 days. Sedans cost 800–1000 yuan/day, and business vans cost 1200–1500 yuan/day, including fuel and tolls.
